The index gathers the names of the people linked to the works and sources in the catalogue, in any role: composers, authors of the texts, dedicatees, owners, performers, copyists. The identity and role of each person derive from what is recorded on the sources. The same person may therefore appear under different spellings, and the attribution of a role is worth no more than the source documenting it.
